Migraines and Severe Headaches

Just for the sake of discussion I have grouped headaches and migraines together here, however they are not the same condition and your GP will be able to distinguish between them for you and may prescribe some appropriate medication.
Headaches and migraines may, however, be aggravated and brought on by similar things, and both can be alleviated successfully with Cranio Sacral Therapy.
The head is a very busy place in the human body; fluids such as blood and cerebro spinal fluid oxygenate and feed the brain both constantly and enthusiastically so that it is important that the fluid flow within the head is uninhibited.
This fluid flow may be inhibited for a number of reasons. For instance, if your neck is very tense then that muscular tightness may reduce the flow of blood as it leaves the head via the jugular veins. Or, another instance may be that for some reason or other the component bones of the head may have become tightly drawn towards each other and thus restrict the natural rhythmic flow of the cerebro spinal fluid. It's true, I am talking about a very complex system in a simplistic way, but nonetheless, the general points are valid.
It is my experience that the causes of headaches and migraines can sometimes be surprising. For instance, a stiff knee might affect the way you walk, which would affect your lower back, which would - given time - affect your neck, which could in turn bring on a headache or possibly trigger migraines. CranioSacral Therapy is a treatment that always looks at your whole body so that the root causes of any conditions are addressed.
It has been my experience that a CST treatment for headaches or severe migraines will almost always significantly decrease the severity of any future attacks and significantly increase the time periods between attacks.
